Research at HITS operates at both faculty and undergraduate level. In AY 2025–26 final-year B.Tech students published 149 research papers based entirely on in-house projects, while faculty recorded 290 achievements across publications, projects, grants, seminars and Faculty Development Programmes.
The 149-paper figure matters because of where it comes from: every paper originated in an in-house student project rather than in a supervisor’s existing programme. The institute regards this as evidence that original research, critical thinking and technical writing can begin at undergraduate level instead of being deferred to postgraduate study — and it gives students a documented publication record at the point they apply for postgraduate places or research roles.
Faculty research in AY 2025–26 spanned publications, major research projects, institutional grants, seminars and Faculty Development Programmes. Several faculty supervise doctoral scholars; the Principal, Dr. N. Subhash Chandra, has more than 35 research publications and supervises doctoral candidates himself, and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and a member of IEEE, ISTE and the Computer Society of India.
