Sport and recreation at HITS are supported by open grounds and courts, a fully equipped gymnasium, and regular yoga and meditation sessions — all on a campus with the space to accommodate them properly.

The institute treats physical activity as connected to academic performance rather than separate from it
Outdoor courts and grounds support team and individual sport; the gymnasium gives students an option independent of weather or daylight, which matters on a campus where laboratory sessions and project work often run late; and hostel residents have direct access to all of it outside teaching hours.
Recreation at HITS also takes a distinctly technical form
Students compete in national-level events including Battle Bots and radio car racing, where design, fabrication and teamwork are tested under competitive conditions. Alongside the physical facilities, the institute runs regular yoga and meditation sessions, and has hosted dedicated programmes on mental discipline — including Vipassana practice with Mr. Bhaskara Rao on quieting the mind and focusing on the present.
