Cultural life at HITS centres on the campus auditorium, which hosts the institute’s orientation and convocation ceremonies, cultural programmes, and the continuous stream of talks and interactive sessions that run through the academic year.
Cultural programmes and panel sessions in the campus auditorium.
Around 30 sessions and workshops take place across the year
roughly two to three each month — and many of these are as much cultural as technical. Students have heard from a retired High Court judge on constructive development, from senior police officers on gender sensitisation and on strategic ways to achievement, from a National Geographic geologist on environmental issues, and from life coaches, entrepreneurs and public speakers. The intent is straightforward: an engineer should be able to think and speak about more than engineering.
The institute also marks its milestones publicly
the celebration of UGC Autonomous status, the felicitation of its NAAC A grade, orientation day for each incoming cohort, and the annual convocation. These occasions, together with student-led cultural performances, give the campus a shared calendar beyond examinations and deadlines.
