Guidance and mentoring sessions run alongside the regular academic timetable.
The cell works on the parts of a postgraduate application that undergraduates most often underestimate
identifying suitable programmes and supervisors, preparing for the entrance examinations that gate them (GATE for M.Tech and PSU recruitment, and the standardised tests required by overseas universities), assembling a credible research profile, and writing a statement of purpose that actually says something. Faculty who supervise doctoral scholars and publish actively are directly involved in that mentoring.
Students at HITS come to this process better equipped than most
Final-year B.Tech students published 149 research papers in AY 2025–26 from in-house projects — a genuine publication record at undergraduate level, which is exactly what strengthens a postgraduate application. The institute’s B.Tech minor degrees in AI & Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, IoT and Entrepreneurship provide a second, documented specialisation alongside the primary branch, and its academic engagement with BITS Pilani and IIIT gives students exposure to research environments beyond the campus.
